Toys, Tech and Tamagotchis: Christmas Bestsellers of the 20th Century

From 25 November 2022 to 6 January 2023, see some of the top-selling Christmas toys of the 20th Century.

The display will look at the most exciting new toys to come to the market throughout the 20th Century – those at the top of every child’s Christmas list. It will also comment on returning trends and popularities such as Furby, Barbie, Lego and Rubik’s, which have ranked high on the top-selling toys lists over the last few decades.

Children are invited to explore our Time Tunnel by helping us fill our pretend Christmas Stocking, ready for Santa’s collection. Families are then invited to our drop-in workshops where they can create a Christmas tree decoration out of recycled packaging.

Family festive drop-in workshops, free with Museum entry:

03 December, 12:30 – 16:30
10 December, 12:30 – 16:30
