Express Yourself: Find Your Brand

Express yourself this summer at the Museum of Brands. We are celebrating personal identity and culture by exploring how gender and heritage are portrayed in marketing campaigns and consumer culture. We encourage all visitors to express themselves and find their own personal brand!

From 9 July we will have discovery trails for all ages which will highlight objects within the collection, pinpointing how fashion and style have evolved over time and reflecting how society has expressed itself throughout the 20th century. Our Gender in Advertising trail will look at how brands have evolved from stigmatising gender norms in their campaigns right up to the present day. Plus, the little ones will be able to follow a rainbow of brands on the way through the Time Tunnel.

From 1 August, a new temporary pop-up display will be on show for one month only. You will get the chance to look at how make-up products have evolved throughout the last two centuries. The display will feature products that make-up artists and the general public have used over the years for general use and within the film industry.

There will be a series of craft activities tailored to children, encouraging them to think about and express their identity, such as Paper Doll Dress Up, Design yourself as a Doll and Create a Make-up look.
