Event Details

The Museum of Brands is proud to present Common Threads, the debut display by textile artist Lucy King. Opening on 8 May 2026, this vibrant showcase reimagines familiar logos, colours and typography through richly layered felt and intricate hand-stitching.
King’s striking textile works zoom in on fragments of beloved designs, transforming them into intimate, textured portraits that invite visitors to look again. Drawing inspiration from household names such as Cadbury and McVitie’s, the display explores themes of design nostalgia, cultural memory and the enduring power of branding as part of everyday life.
Many of the featured brands also appear in the museum’s permanent collection, originally established by founder Robert Opie, creating a unique dialogue between past and present.
Reflecting on the exhibition, King says, “I am so proud and excited to have my exhibition debut at the Museum of Brands. As a British artist, this is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate some of the greatest British brands and their impact and influence around the world.”
